Join a dynamic research team at ETH Zurich and explore how friction affects the behavior of colloidal suspensions. You will work in a collaborative, international environment focused on understanding material failure and developing predictive tools for mechanical systems.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Conduct computational and theoretical research on how inter-particle friction impacts the flow of concentrated suspensions
  • Apply physics-based models to connect the behavior of single particles to the overall response of the suspension
  • Implement coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations
  • Verify and validate your models using data from project collaborators
  • Work closely with experimental researchers to provide modeling insights and help interpret experimental results

Was du mitbringst

  • Master's degree in mechanics, physics, engineering (civil, mechanical, aerospace, or bio-), material science, or a related field
  • Background in computational sciences, especially solid mechanics or applied physics
  • Experience implementing and validating scientific code
  • Programming skills in Python and experience with version control
  • Curious, self-motivated, and enjoy teamwork
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Strong social and communication skills, contributing positively to group dynamics

Was wir dir bieten

  • Be part of a supportive, international research group that values curiosity and collaboration
  • Opportunities for professional development and scientific growth
  • Work at ETH Zurich, a university committed to positive societal impact and sustainability
  • Enjoy benefits like public transport passes, car sharing, sports facilities, childcare, and attractive pension plans
  • Inclusive and diverse work environment that promotes equal opportunities
