In this fixed-term role, you help shape the future of space missions by providing expert thermal engineering support for a variety of projects, including new lunar mobility concepts and diverse spacecraft platforms.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Develop and implement thermal designs for spacecraft systems, including robotic platforms
  • Perform thermal analyses using industry-standard software, focusing on moving components and variable heat loads
  • Define and supervise thermal testing campaigns, including thermal vacuum and hardware verification tests
  • Develop and maintain thermal models, correlating them with test data for validation
  • Establish requirements for thermal control hardware like radiators, heat pipes, heaters, insulation, and coatings
  • Work closely with mechanical, systems, and payload engineers to ensure integrated thermal management
  • Define and manage thermal interface requirements across subsystems
  • Perform trade studies balancing performance, reliability, mass, and power budgets for thermal solutions
  • Support test data reduction, model validation, and correlation with flight hardware behavior
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and operations for development, integration, testing, launch, and on-orbit support
  • Provide mission support, including anomaly resolution and telemetry evaluation

Was du mitbringst

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in spacecraft or planetary thermal engineering, including design, analysis, requirements, interfaces, and hardware testing
  • Strong understanding of space thermal engineering principles (conduction, radiation, thermal transients, fluidics)
  • Proficiency in thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop, ESATAN-TMS, Systema-Thermica, or similar
  • Problem-solving skills and a hands-on engineering approach
  • Teamwork and communication skills in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Familiarity with advanced thermal technologies for spaceflight

  • Plus: Skills in mechanical engineering or structural analysis, including launch and thermo-mechanical effects
