Join an exciting new facility at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, focused on cutting-edge research in tissue science. You will help build and run advanced imaging and spatial transcriptomics pipelines, supporting a wide range of users in a dynamic, international research community. The role starts April 15, 2026 or by agreement.

Deine Aufgaben

  • Operate, maintain, and expand systems for spatial transcriptomics and microfluidic tissue processing.
  • Develop protocols for volumetric molecular imaging, including expansion microscopy and multiplexed in situ hybridization workflows.
  • Establish pipelines for whole-mount and thick-section spatial transcriptomics, ensuring tissue integrity and high-quality imaging.
  • Build or adapt equipment for large-volume sample processing and imaging.
  • Work with researchers, image analysts, and data specialists to produce standardized whole-brain datasets.
  • Train and support researchers in using facility methods on their samples.
  • Help develop the facility's infrastructure for long-term whole-tissue profiling.

Was du mitbringst

  • PhD in neuroscience, bioengineering, biophysics, molecular biology, or a related field.
  • Expertise in advanced microscopy (light-sheet, confocal, multiphoton).
  • Experience with spatial transcriptomics, expansion microscopy, or multiplexed FISH.
  • Skills in instrumentation, microfluidics, or custom optical systems.
  • Experience with tissue clearing or large fixed tissue preparations is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and interest in interdisciplinary work.
  • Ability to train students and postdocs.
